Governing Board Positions and Duties

GOVERNING BOARD AND DUTIES 

The governing board shall be voting members and shall consist of: 

A President who shall: 

Preside over all meetings of the Board and maintain order. 

Have co-signer authority on any checks issued. 

Serve as a liaison to the Directors, acting on behalf of the Directors as requested. 

Serve as a liaison to the high school Principal. 

Serve as a liaison to the other organizations. 

Be an ex-officio member of all committees. 

Appoint committees and chairs and direct their activities. 

Form temporary committees, as needed.

A Vice-President who shall:

Ensure accuracy of order and distribute Marching Band Show Shirts.

Perform the duties of the President in his/her absence. 

Have co-signer authority on any checks issued. 

Assist and serve as a liaison to all committee chairs.

A Treasurer who shall:

Keep the accounts of the Boosters organization. 

Collect, deposit and disburse monies, as necessary and designated by the Board. 

Collect and issue receipts for money received and disbursed. 

Maintain the savings and/or checking accounts for the organization, as necessary. 

Have co-signer authority on any checks issued. 

Maintain receipt books, checkbooks, and accurate records in accordance with good bookkeeping practices. 

Present monthly written financial statements to the Board. 

Prepare Annual Tax and Annual Corporation Commission reports.

A Secretary/Recorder who shall: 

Keep an accurate record of the Corporate Documents, including but not limited to: 

Original Articles of Incorporation 

Original Bylaws (present, past, and all amendments) 

Copies of the Annual Corporation Commission reports 

Any official IRS forms and/or correspondence 

Any other official corporate documents and/or resolutions deemed appropriate 

Keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all meetings. 

Distribute minutes of the previous and past General and Board meetings, as requested, to include but not limited to roll call, presentations and reports. 

Develop meeting sign-in sheets and voting placards. 

Be responsible for recording the votes at all meetings. 

Develop all necessary forms and supplies as requested by the Board.

A Guard Parent Board Member who shall: 

Serve as a liaison with the Color Guard Director.

Serve as a member of the Fundraising Committee. 

Perform other duties as deemed necessary by majority vote of the Board.

An Orchestra Parent Board Member who shall: 

Serve as a liaison with the Orchestra Director. 

Serve as a member of the Fundraising Committee. 

Perform other duties as deemed necessary by majority vote of the Board.

A New Member Parent Board Member who shall: 

Have at least one (1) year Booster experience to serve as a liaison to families of incoming freshmen students. 

Assist the Secretary, during the General meeting, with signing-in and voting. 

Chair the Scholarship Committee, for determination of scholarship recipients, at the year-end banquet. 

Perform other duties as deemed necessary by majority vote of the Board.
