Director’s Notes: July 26-August 1, 2026
Welcome back! We’re very excited for another great year with the Cienega Instrumental Music Program and we hope you are too! You’ll get regular updates from us throughout the year with lots of crucial information to you/your child’s involvement in the program. We break them down into sections so you’re able to easily identify what information is relevant to your child’s ensemble(s) and what you can skip reading.
Our first Booster Meeting of the year is tomorrow, Monday July 27 @ 5:30 pm in the Choir Room
- All are welcome to attend and encouraged. The booster organization is a vital piece the success of each ensemble and we cannot function without robust support from parents and volunteers like you! It does not matter how much time you can commit, what your skill set is, or if you have been around band/orchestra before- your help is needed and welcome!
Onboarding Information for All Students
Each class received their first assignment on the first day of school: Syllabus acknowledgement. Your child should have brought home (or will bring home tomorrow) a half-sheet for their signature and your’s. Please review the course syllabus with your child on Schoology, sign, and have your student return the form by Friday, July 31.
You can also find the following important documents on Schoology in the resources folder:
- Band Handbook or Orchestra Handbook
- Performance calendar for the school year. This is designed to be a guide for all concerts and festival performances for the year. Some information is still TBA or pending the state organization’s confirmation. As a reminder, all performance dates are subject to change if necessary.
Your child will be coming home with a link to fill out our Booster Information Form within the next week. That information is important for our booster/parent volunteers that take care of each student (feed them, chaperone trips, administer medication if necessary, etc.) when the bands and orchestras travel. Please fill that out as soon as possible. Completion does count as a grade in each ensemble.
Marching Band: Week 1 Agenda and Information
