Director’s Update: July 22-26, 2024
Hello and welcome (back) to Week 1! This week's updates are mostly marching band focused as that is the ensemble that has the most going on this early in the year. However, we'll start with some general information:
For everyone, all ensembles:
- Please ensure you have submitted your student's booster information forms by the end of this week. It is absolutely crucial that we have medical and emergency contact information on every student in the program. Your child will not be allowed to perform or travel with us this year without this form submitted. All forms are digital this year and can be found here.
- Syllabus e-Signature forms are due for every ensemble by Friday, July 26 at 3:45 pm. Please review the syllabus with your student on their Schoology page.
Communication:
- All students, regardless of their ensemble, should be signed up for our Slack channel. This is how we communicate and how they can most easily reach us. If your child does not have a cell phone, or you would simply prefer to also receive the info they receive via Slack, parents are welcome to register, but should not post in student Slack channels. This discourages student accountability, responsibility, collaboration, and communication.
- You as a parent/guardian can best reach Mr. Koenig and myself via email. If you prefer a phone call, our office phone number is 520-879-1887.

Where the programs currently is:
We're proud to share that every ensemble is experiencing growth from this past year.
- Our marching band ended last season with 61 members and currently sits at 73 to start the new season. This means we will be joining the crowded field of AAA competition.
- Although the numbers are up from last year, we still have open spots in color guard, mellophone, and clarinet sections that can be filled if you know interested students!
- Concert band has an enrollment of 15 currently, up from 10 at the start of last year.
- Symphonic Band returned most members from last year and has a really exciting performance opportunity this year... more on that later!
- Jazz Ensemble is up in enrollment from this previous year
- Orchestra has doubled in size, currently seating 17 students!
We look forward to all the exciting opportunities and challenges this year is going to bring! Go Bobcats!
