Director’s Update: Oct. 13-18, 2025

Happy Concert Week… and Show Week! I wish I could tell you all that it slows down after this week, but that would just be mean.

Concert: Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025

  • Student call time: 5:30 pm
  • Which ensembles? Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Navy Blues’ Jazz (in concert order)
  • Student attire: concert black. They know what this is and is not, we’ve reviewed it in class every day for the last month and a half.
  • Start time: 6:30 pm, doors open at 6:05 pm.
  • How long is this going to last? The fall concert is always the longest because we combine all four ensembles on one night. With the intermission, we try to to be finished by 8:30 pm.
  • We have a percentage night at Freddy’s 5-9 pm. Go eat dinner before or after the concert and tell them you’re there for us!
  • Light concessions will also be sold during intermission

Recap from Walden Grove Competition

I, sincerely, cannot thank our parent volunteers and the boosters enough for all they do. For those of you that chaperoned the game on Friday, put uniforms together this weekend, did show make up for all 85 kids, fed the kids, pushed heavy equipment around Walden Grove’s wet campus on Saturday, showed up early to load/unload box trucks, drove tents out to Walden Grove early Saturday morning for us (thanks Smiths!), and everything else that goes into making these days successful for the kids and I: THANK YOU! Saturday was the most-relaxed show I’ve ever had as a director (even with the worst weather anxiety) and its all because of YOU ALL! I feel fortunate and blessed to have the support we have for this program.

The students had a strong start to the season (and probably their favorite score ever). We are excited by the feedback we got and look forward to making it even better next weekend.. and the next weekend.. and the next weekend.. and well, you get it.

Marching Band Agenda for the Week:

Monday- 0 hour rehearsal (inside if raining); 5:30-9 pm (outside as much as possible)

  • Quick note about Monday evening rehearsals: If you’re picking up your child that evening, please feel free to come into the stadium and watch the final run-through of the evening. This usually happens around 8:45 pm. It gives kids an audience to perform for and it helps you learn when to cheer/clap/etc. on show days to help boost our general effect score.

Tuesday- 0 hour (low impact rehearsal) CONCERT DAY (no open band room)

  • Students not in a concert ensemble: Please come support your friends!

Wednesday- 0 hour rehearsal (most likely outside)

Thursday- 0 hour rehearsal; Sectionals (4-5:30 pm)

  • Spring Trip Information Meeting (via Zoom) at 6:30 pm; Link will be emailed out asap

Friday- Away game @ Flowing Wells

  • plan to attend, but please know that we do not have confirmed buses yet and cancelation is possible. Answer to come by Tuesday morning
  • If we attend, we will try to do a full show.
