Walden Grove Show Weather Plans
Dear Parents,
I know you are all monitoring the weather for this weekend as anxiously as I am. I wanted to let you know how we plan to make decisions that are in the best interest of the students’ safety tomorrow:
As of now, AzMBA is planning to TRY and host shows as normal this weekend, but a weather plan has been approved and communicated to all directors. We will plan to proceed as normal also. The Plan B is that shows will be moved into the host site’s gym and bands will give a stand-still performance if it is safe to unload/transit from buses to the gym. Should weather be dangerous/persistently poor on Saturday, AzMBA will call the show up to 12 hours in advance. However, AzMBA may also choose to wait until closer to show time for a weather cancelation to be called. It is worth noting that in AzMBA’s entire ten year history, only one show has ever been canceled due to bad weather.
Please see Cienega’s weather contingency plan attached below. This is how the staff and I will make decisions that best fit the safety and needs of our students at CHS. Please know that the safety of your child/children is my priority. When making tough decisions like delaying, adjusting, or canceling our performances, there are numerous factors we consider, such as: students driving themselves to and from campus, bus safety, equipment safety, parents’ ability to get to their children if weather is dangerous upon dismissal, etc. There is no decision I can make that will make everyone: students, you as parents, supporters, staff, and AzMBA officials happy. I ask that you try to understand this and give grace when waiting for/receiving decisions we make.
- Mr. Bailey
